We’d love to hear our thoughts. It might contain fan-fueled speculation from our side, don’t hate us for it. This article about the Halo TV Series versus the games will be updates as the show progresses. We may earn a commission for purchases using our links. So, let’s dig deeper into the lore and explain the most important differences in the Halo TV series versus the games. The Silver Timeline is different from the main Halo Timeline, or Halo Core Canon as it is called officially, which includes the video games, books, comics, and previously released videos like Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn. No wonder, as ultimately, the show marks the beginning of a new Halo Universe called the Silver Timeline. Sure, the creators trigger our fan-instinct right from the start by using exactly the right sounds for depleted shields, but when comparing the Halo TV Series versus the games, you’ll notice a lot of differences. Ooh that’s a tough one, it’s between Master Chief x Cortana and Steve x Bucky. There are a lot of differences between the Halo TV Series and games. They both have long histories with each other, both forged and tested in war. They’ve both had to face losing each other countless times, and always fought so so hard to return to each other. Chief and Steve have proven time and time again that they would do whatever it takes to get their respective partner back/protect them. Just as Cortana and Bucky would go to the ends of the earth for their respective partners. I think though, as things with their individual canon states stand, I would have to say Chief x Cortana have the strongest bond. It’s what Endgame did to Steve and Bucky that clinches it for Chief x Cortana, because despite how strongly out of character I believe the end of Endgame to be for them, it still happened and it’s canon now whether we like it or not. Whereas for now, despite how messy things got in Halo 5 with Cortana being the enemy, Chief and Cortana still showed how deeply they care for each other. With Chief being so desperate to get Cortana back after her presumed death, even when it’s clear she isn’t who she used to be, and Cortana wanting to protect Chief from the plans she has to overthrow the universe. Things are complicated for them now, but they are still trying to protect each other. ![]() And fingers crossed - from what we’ve seen - it seems like that’s going to continue in Halo infinite, and Chief is still going to try and find a way to get the old Cortana back rather than resort to killing her. Although, who knows how things might end up going. Master Chief x Cortana again, Halo is a heavily dudebro fandom so there’s a lot of “Ugh stop trying to put FEELINGS and ROMANCE into my shooty shooty game”. There are several videos from Halo lore YouTube channels that are basically “Are Chief and Cortana IN LOVE?” that treat it like a ridiculous thing to be discredited, or take it somewhat seriously but ultimately are like “It’s not LOVE, they care about each other a lot, but it’s not LOVE” and then go on to describe all the reasons they love each other while still trying to prove it’s not love as we know it. And I’m just like, the word love isn’t bad, it doesn’t lower the franchise in any way or their relationship. I don’t know what kind of love it is, if it’s platonic, romantic, or any other type of love. ![]()
